A little bit about Sophie:

Sophie is from Brooklyn, New York and first got involved at the YSFP as a Lazarus Intern in the summer of 2018. Sophie loved being able to run open workdays over the summer as a way to connect with members of the New Haven community and meet other Connecticut farmers and food vendors at the Wooster Square Farmers' Market. The following fall, Sophie started working as a farm manager, which allowed her to watch the farm's transition from summer to fall and then help wake the farm up again after winter. As an environmental studies major, working on the farm allows Sophie to engage hands-on with issues of sustainable food strategies and learn from the variety of speakers that the YSFP brings in. This usually leads to more big questions, but she is always able to find someone on the farm who is interested in discussing them.
