Meet Sarah Feng ’25!
Sarah is a sophomore in Trumbull College planning to major in Humanities and Cognitive Science. She is fascinated by the intersection of storytelling and science, and her favorite places in the world are open-air spaces like deserts and farms. Some of her formative memories were spent on her uncle's farm in China, where she learned about the agricultural practices that defined that city from the time it was a village. Farming and water accessibility interact to define how parts of China and her American home, Northern California, sustain their communities. When she thinks of China, she thinks of endless fields under her uncle's stone house; when she thinks of California, she thinks of oranges as sweet as gold hanging from the trees. During her gap year, she stayed at national parks across the state, where conversations with strangers taught her to rethink the outdoors in relation to the individual; while working on a creative writing project, she learned about sustainability through aquaponics farms along the coast of California. She hopes to learn more about agriculture and engage with the outdoors community at Yale through working for the Yale Farm.
