Meet Kavya Jain ’25!
Kavya is from St. Louis, Missouri and spent the past year living and learning on a homestead in Southeast Alaska. She grew lots of greens, foraged for wild blueberries, made too much kelp salsa, turned a greenhouse into a social space, and fell in love with constructing social architectures around growing, cooking and eating food. Kavya is interested in the worlds we imagine and refuse when we localize food systems, heal our relationship with the earth and grow food for our communities. She is interested in food sovereignty’s place in abolitionist visions for the future and the possibilities of the Farm as a site of study and gathering.
