Gulam "Oyshi" Monawarah is a writer and activist from New York City, born and raised by the East River waterfront in Astoria. Growing up between the water-flooded farmlands in Bangladesh and the city, Oyshi would often help at her grandmother's farm and read about South Asian culinary history. She is excited to learn more about sustainable agriculture, local food spots, and supporting family-run farms. Outside of YSFP, Oyshi loves knitting, listening to 2000s R&B, and rollerblading.
